The show was held in a beautiful upstairs venue in downtown Charlottesville on a perfect spring night. The background to the page is a view from the rooftop deck taken by Joan Bullard. She contributed many of the pics here, too. Mouse over each pic to see its name. If "Craver, Hicks..." is spelled out -- that one is Joan's. |

The audience tonight was well-versed in the history of the Red Clay Ramblers. "Their music wasn't just old time, it was crazy! Remember 'Merchants Lunch'?" Two folks sang the chorus of Bill's "Hobo's Last Letter," not with the band but BEFORE the show by themselves. Someone said "I had these records...on VINYL!" They laughed at Bill's story about the "tone arm." They caught the sympathetic references in "Devil's Tail" and howled at the lyrics of Mike's "Glass Eye." Mighty fine, as Jim would say. |

"Leather Britches" - video by Bren Overholt |
One fan purchased the oldest of the old on the table (Jim Watson and Tommy Thompson's Hollow Rock Legacy from 1974) then the newest of the new (You've Been A Friend To Me released in 2012), the first official recording from Craver, Hicks, Watson, Newberry. |
